There once was a strange animal,
Born one of its kind.
It had stripes on its front, on its back,
And its sides.
It looked like a pony
And pranced on all fours
It was born a zebra,
But this one had a horn!
As the days grew to weeks
This zebra’s stripes turned blue.
And when he turned five
He grew wings and flew!
He soared through the sky
He soared past the clouds
He flew and he flew
He wouldn’t come down
“If grass grew in the sky
I’d never touch land
I just love to fly
Try it, its grand.” -he said
He picked up the lion
Who roared with delight
Even giraffe said
“I’ve never seen such a sight”
One day the birds go mad
With new animals in the sky
A zebra could fly
And they did not know why
“Tie down his wings
Don’t let him go up
What if he falls
Think of your pups!”
As the birds cried and shouted
The others grew scared
Zebras in the sky?
Only birds belong there
They made him come down
They tied down his wings
They made him feel bad
And said hurtful things
Until one stormy day
Trees started to sway
The wind blew the baby birds every which way
The father birds could not help
The mother birds screamed
The wind was too strong
This was such a bad dream!
“Please, please Zebra, save our baby birds!
We are sorry we hurt you”,
Were the words of the birds
The little zebracorn raced to the sky
He caught every baby bird
They all were alright
The animals cheered
We’re so glad you can fly!
We’re so proud of your gift!
You belong in the sky!
So if you have a friend with glasses,
Red hair,
Or even a horn.
Their difference is special,
Like the brave zebracorn!
